Tyler Park Center for the Arts

Celebrate creativity

With spring in full swing, Tyler Park Center for the Arts invites the community to its annual Members Art Show, held June 6 – 8. This dynamic exhibition showcases the talents of both emerging and professional artists, and features live music, refreshments, artist meet-and-greets, and awards for excellence in several categories.

Among this year’s featured artists is Barbara Neale, who has spent the past 17 years working with fused glass. Also known as warm glass, this art form involves cutting and layering pieces of glass that are then melted in a kiln to create a unified piece. Barbara has attended many workshops of warm glass artists and is a member of The Glass Underground Studio in Warren, NJ. Since retiring, she has displayed her work at local fairs and juried shows, and now teaches fused glass workshops at TPCA.

Also exhibiting is William Lessa, a longtime public school administrator whose artwork draws on his travels in Africa, his passion for Philadelphia sports, and his unique view of life’s quirky moments. Working primarily in graphite and colored pencils, William donates much of his art sale proceeds to regional charities supporting children and families.

Looking ahead, TPCA’s Creative Summer Camps are open for registration! Young artists ages 8–16 can explore themed art intensives like “Art Around the World and “Under the Sea”, while younger children can enjoy mini camps tailored to their age group.

Members of TPCA receive special perks, including discounted workshops and entry into the annual Crafts in the Meadow festival, returning October 18–19.
