As leaves turn golden, the air grows crisp, and pumpkin spice makes its annual appearance in absolutely everything, November reminds us to slow down, reflect and give thanks.
At Friends Village, we have plenty to be thankful for!
Our Friends for All Time Disco Ball Gala was a wonderful success! From dancing and laughter to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, it was an evening filled with community spirit. The disco ball may have stopped spinning, but our gratitude continues! Visit our website for photos and a slideshow celebrating Styer Campus’s story.
As our fall calendar winds down, we’re not quite ready for a long winter’s nap. November still has plenty in store!
Beginning Nov. 2, Senior Planet from AARP returns with “Creative with Canva,” a free four-week technology course for older adults. Participants will transform favorite photographs into creative projects, including personalized holiday gifts. Because nothing says “I love you” like a homemade gift—especially one that doesn’t involve glitter all over the kitchen!
History enthusiasts can enjoy “America’s First Ladies: From Martha to Michelle,” presented by Gather Place Museum, exploring women who helped shape our nation’s history.
Our next Men’s Den gathering falls on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, offering conversation, camaraderie and connection.
We’ll also welcome our final WHYY Bridging Blocks discussion of the year, “Social Media, the News, and the Next Generation.” Expect thoughtful conversation and perhaps a few different perspectives!
Nature lovers won’t want to miss Santino from Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve presenting “Our Nature Neighbors,” exploring the wildlife sharing our surroundings.
On Nov. 18, from 2 - 4 p.m., join us for our Styer Campus Open House and discover the warmth of Friends Village.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we’re reminded that community isn’t simply where we live—it’s what we create together.
Here’s to gratitude, good company and a November filled with reasons to smile!
