Doylestown’s new Community Recreation Center, adjacent to Kids Castle in Central Park, will be the venue for the third annual Artisan Market hosted by the Friends of the Doylestown Library on Saturday, April 11, from 10 am to 3 pm.
One of the group’s signature fundraisers, the Artisan Market will feature 36 local artisans and craftspeople, a prize drawing, and bake sale. Admission and parking are free.
“We are thrilled to be able to move the Artisan Market to the beautiful, new Community Recreation Center, and are grateful for the support of the Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors and staff, who helped make that happen,” said Friends President Steve Schreiner.
The Artisan Market vendors were selected from among more than 60 applicants, and will offer a wide variety of handmade items, including jewelry, woodwork, visual arts, pottery, soaps and textiles.
“This will be a great place to shop for Mother’s Day gifts,” noted Lorrie Richardson, chairperson of the Friends Fundraising Committee. “The vendors are also generously donating items for our prize drawings.”
Two weeks later, the Friends organization will host its Spring Community Book Sale, Saturday, April 25, from 9:15 am to 4:45 pm, and Sunday, April 26, from 1:15 to 4:45 pm, at the Doylestown Library.
Thousands of gently-used books will sell for $2 each, except picture books selling at two for $1 and chapter books (designated with stickers) for $1 each. Cash, checks, Venmo and credit cards are accepted.
“We continue to receive generous book donations throughout the year, which our volunteers carefully sort to make sure everything in the Book Sale is of high quality,” said Liz McCarthy, Friends Vice President and Book Sale co-chairperson.
All proceeds from the Artisan Market and Spring Community Book Sale will benefit the Friends of the Doylestown Library, a non-profit organization supporting the Doylestown Library.
